Inlays and onlays are used on an existing tooth and they fit the inlay or onlay onto the tooth. These are also referred to as partial crowns as they are used to strengthen the tooth, restore its shape and prevent further damage to the tooth.
This process entails a few visits. The first visit is used to remove any of the decay and then the doctor will take a mold of the tooth and send it off to the dental lab for a restoration to be made. You will then return and have the inlay or onlay placed and set with cement.
